I get error when I tried installing Cn3D from the home computer! does anyone else face the same problem?? Can we work on this assignment through UMDNJ school computer? or we cannot install it there?
I was able to download the Cn3D. So please omit the question above. Thank You.
OK - That's solved. --Dr. Byrne 08:25, 29 February 2008 (EST)
My Macintosh (OS 10.4.11) won't recognize Cn3D as an application. There is a disclaimer on the NCBI site that reads: "Note to Macintosh Users: Configuring helper applications on browsers under OSX seems to be difficult or impossible. This is a limitation of the browsers, not of Cn3D itself. On our test platforms, we have only been able to get Netscape to work properly with NCBI structure-related web pages. In particular, Safari has no mechanism at all for configuring helper applications. However, you should still be able to save data files to the desktop or a download folder, and then drag & drop files onto Cn3D to launch it manually."
However, dragging and dropping the file onto Cn3D did not work either. Anyone have the same problem with their Mac?? --Ron
Some people have gotten Macs working with Cn3D, but I'm not certain we can figure out those problems accept for this advice. (1) Save the data files on your Mac. (2) Open Cn3D. (3) Use the File > Open dialog. If that does not work, then I'd ask that you complete the assignment on a computer at school. You can save the files, move them to your Mac and complete the assignment. Contact me directly by email for more questions on this issue. --Dr. Byrne 08:25, 29 February 2008 (EST)
