Dr Byrne In the Sanger’s paper, when we go to methods section, paper discusses how they prepared ddNTPs (chemistry part). My question is – Do I have to discuss all these details during presentation? I am planning to give basic information about dNTPs, ddNTPs, arabionsylnucleotides, selection of template and so on. But not every detail about synthesis, separation and fractionation as discussed on the paper. Please guide me on this matter. Also there are tons of animations on the web. Can it be used at the end to summarize the presentation?--nimish 12:35, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
I think it would be very useful to explain the difficulties encountered in executing a new technology in earlier days. Certainly that will also be true for the PCR paper. So it might be useful to mention the fact that they synthesized and purified their own ddNTPs without explaining the chemistry. In framing a presentation for use in a classroom, it is perfectly permissible to use web-based information. Your ethical responsibility is to acknowledge the source, even if briefly. Your scientific responsibility is to do the best you can to be certain it's right. --Dr. Byrne 12:42, 14 April 2008 (EDT)
