I have some questions regarding the assigment.

For question 2 I received two genes and their positions. But how do you calculate the distance which is your question C? what I did was I took the end position of one gene and substracted with begining position of Npl3 to get the distance between them. Is that how I should attempt the question?

Yes (as long as your answer is a positive number!) --Dr. Moss 09:54, 21 March 2008 (EDT)

For #3 unc gene there are more than unc gene should I pick any of them?

Yes --Dr. Moss 09:54, 21 March 2008 (EDT)

and when you find summary of one of them I cannot find phenotype!

Look under Legacy Information, it describes the unusual movement or behavior of the worm. --Dr. Moss 09:54, 21 March 2008 (EDT)

For #4C, you can view q12 position but how can you attempt to find the protien coding in taht region?

Before I answer, try to click around a bit, view the region (and other regions nearby) in as many ways as you can. This is an exercise in finding things on your own. --Dr. Moss 09:54, 21 March 2008 (EDT)

Please Help, Shraddha.

For question 3 find the phenotype what kind of answer are you looking for? i looked at the legacy information and it doesn't really tell you what the phenotype is. I just found that it said Class 1 phenotype. please help --Christina 21:42, 21 March 2008 (EDT)

Christina, May be you can select other unc gene instead of unc-1. You will find it.--Patels19 22:38, 21 March 2008 (EDT)

Dr. Moss, For #5b and 5C when you say blast the sequence do we only include the intron sequence or whole transcript we should blast? also when I blast I do get the score value, e value, etc but I dont receive number of matches to answer how many matches do you get? thank you for your help.
